Knots is the title of a book on relationships by R.D. Laing. Aline attempts to give a copy of Knots to Joey, claiming that it will help her understand the problems they are having in their relationship. Joey becomes angry and tears the book before assaulting Aline. Malcolm Long attempts to separate them, but they are all killed by the arrival of the Alien Monster before the fight ends.
The book title may be a visual pun as Aline favours a Knot Tops-hairstyle and costume.
