Gay Women Against Rape (GWAR) is a militant lesbian feminist group that was active in New York City.
History[]
A woman wearing a Gay Women Against Rape T-shirt participated in the 1977 riots against the costumed adventurers and called the Comedian a rapist.[1] The symbol appears in graffiti along with the slogan "Castrate all rapists".[2] In 1985, they organized a benefit concert featuring Pink Triangle.[3] A lesbian woman named Aline supported the group and asked her girlfriend Joey to do the same.

- The GWAR symbol is the female symbol in pink with teeth drawn in the top loop. The toothed loop may be seen as a vagina dentata symbol that gruesomely mirrors the mouth of the Squid.
- Gay Women Against Rape's acronym shares the same name as the heavy metal group, GWAR.
- The GWAR poster can be seen in the background in the television series episode Little Fear of Lightning.
