Bluecoat&scout

Bluecoat and Scout is a superhero comic book series popular in the United States. The series follows the adventures of it's titular masked duo battling Japanese spies and other villains.

History[]

Bluecoat and Scout was released in or before 1946 and gained widespread popularity.

Nite Owl and Mothman had an issue of the series in their hideout.

In 1949, a Japanese ex-agent adopted the persona of Bluecoat, and his son that of Scout, in order to cooperate with the Minutemen.

Trivia[]

  • In the Watchmen universe, superhero comic books faded away circa 1939 (due to the existence of real-life costumed crimefighters that emerged during the same time period), to be replaced by pirate comics. Bluecoat and Scout's popularity almost a decade later could be due to a temporary nostalgic fad, or to the anti-Japanese sentiment that pervaded the era.
